The love for sports came early - soccer, basketball, and snowboarding were my life growing up, competing at a high level in all three.  After high school I continued playing soccer and was fortunate to be a member of the first women's varsity soccer team at the University of Michigan, graduating with a degree in sociology.  My first exposure to sports photography came from working on my high school year book - covering games for various sports and then bringing the images to life in the dark room.  I kept a camera in my hands over the years documenting the sports journey for my kids and honing my skills, while focusing on my first career in law enforcement.  I retired as a Sergeant from the Ann Arbor Police Department after a 25-year career, allowing me to shift my attention to photography full-time. 

My experiences with athletics, my time as an NCAA athlete and my first career all play a significant role in forming who I am today and how I approach photography - with integrity, diligence, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and athletes alike.  I understand the athlete's mind and the flow of the game.  I can see the relationships between teammates, coaches, and fans.  I know what determination and hard work looks like.  I feel the the range of emotions from victory to defeat.  With each assignment I aim to capture the entire scene; action, personalities, details and the atmosphere.

You can often find me on the University of Michigan sidelines as a member of Michigan Photography's freelance core.  In addition to Michigan athletic events, freelance assignments and clients for 2023-2024 include Getty Images, University of Michigan Women's Ice Hockey, USA Lacrosse Magazine, Ann Arbor Sports Commission, Letterwinners M Club, Ann Arbor AFC, Perpetual Sports Network, Mike Morse Law Firm, Providence College Men's Ice Hockey, Notre Dame Men's Soccer, Long Island University Women's Water Polo, as well as high school and travel teams in the Ann Arbor area.  I'm available to cover single games for teams, individual athletes, tournaments, seasons and special events in addition to unique team and senior photo sessions for athletes.
